Default nymphing

If you nymph fish with an indicator keep a good eye on it and if wiggles or moves in an unatural way left up on the rod and see if anyone is home!!!

When fishing the DH/41 area, check this graph first: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ga/nwis/uv...65,00060,00062 This is the water just below Morgan Falls. It will pretty much mirror this graph for 41: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ga/nwis/uv...65,00060,00062 You will be able to atleast gage if the water is coming up or headed down. The Phone Msg from Morgan Falls is worthless.. Also consider the releases from Buford Dam. If they are releasing, a release from MF is not far behind..

Welcome to the board. Remember that it is not so much what you fish but how you fish it. Learn a good drag free presentation. Don't be afraid to pick at the brains of those in your local fly shop/s. Join your local TU chapter and or the meetup group and atlanta fly fishing club. In addition to NGTO all are great places to meet fishing buddies.

3) Good techniques to set hooks
Not needed. Just keep pressure on the fish, as in don't let the line slacken.
It is necessary to set the hook. Use a sidearm downstream hook set - a quick wrist snap. This will increase your hook ups and keep you out of the trees. Trout have soft mouths so the hook sets are not like those of bass fishermen.

I can see what you mean. On a dry or nymph, when you get a take, you need to apply a little pressure with a little sideways motion to set the hook. When stripping a booger, when the fish takes it, you're on. I was trying to say you don't have to Bill Dance it out of the water like on a bass hook-set.
