Default Canoeing Chatooga?

Have been fly fishing the Hooch from Helen all the way to Jones Bridge for several years. Have also done several full day float trips down the Toccoa...ready for a change of scenery. Knowing nothing about the Chatooga, could my hubby and I do a fly fishing canoe trip? If so, where do we put in/take out? What discharge rate should we plan to stay between (cfs flow rates).
We would love to make a weekend of it and camp at night...preferably not at a camp ground or at one that is not crowded. Any advice or reference website advice would be greatly appreciated.

About the only section of the Chattooga that I think would be viable for a canoe camping trip is Section 2. You would put in at the Hwy 28 bridge crossing and canoe down to Earls Ford where you could put a second vehicle. That section only has one Class 3 rapid you would have to contend with and there are plenty of camp sites along the stretch you could camp on. Also note that it is a decent walk from the Earls Ford takeout to where the vehicles are on the South Carolina side (about a quarter mile if I recall), so you will have to haul gear from the river to the vehicle. Section 3 and 4 of the Chattooga has some serious rapids; multiple Class 3, 4 and even Class 5 rapids that I would not recommend attempting unless you are an experienced river runner.

PS: the Chattooga is a natural river and flows are dependent on how much rain has recently fallen. It does not take a ton of rain to turn that river into a rocking ride no matter what section you are on.

You could access Earls Ford from the GA side, down Earls Ford Rd. You could then park you second vehicle there at the ford or ford War Woman Creek in your vehicle and park next to the Chattooga.

Thank you all for your replies. I did know about the water levels on the Chatooga...dont worry...I check religiously...just didnt know which if any sections were floatable in a canoe...every river is different...I have kayaked the French Broad in NC at 2500 cfs...which was plenty scary on that stretch....but Im going for trout...not a thrill ride... so major rapids would not be fun...

...IMHO, the sections above the confluence with the West Fork are not worth the trouble...

...having said that, I am a fisherman, not a canoer or kayaker...

...I would get real wet from falling over, and I am not as limber as I once was...

It's a tough river for float fishing, imo. Upper sections are boat restricted and lower sections are gnarly. The in-betweens are great for scenario and floating but not fishing. Just my opinion.
