Default Savannah River Below Lk Hartwell Dam

I recently moved to Hartwell. I know trout are released by So Carolina & Georgia. Has anyone ever fished for trout there in the winter?

Its pretty much a put and take. Since Lake Russell backs up almost to the tailwater, there's not much river. The fish are pretty much confined to holes and pockets while the COE is not generating, After generation starts, trout are at the mercy of the river. I don't hear of anyone trout fishing anywhere other than the catwalk near the dam. I'm sure there are some fished washed downstream that could be targeted, but the chances of finding them are slim.
The next bridge downstream is Smith McGee. You can put in a boat or yak and go upstream as far as the rocks. The temperature changes drastically as you work upstream from Smith McGee.

In warmer weather when they are generating, trout go by a different name..
