FINALLY

A warmish, cloudy day on the water. When you fish 1 day a week it is hard to get mother nature and you work schedule to line up.

Today she did.

Got on the water at 10 and quickly got into 4 fish out of a run I've never really focused on before. I think it is something we all get a little too comfortable with... hitting the same spots over and over time after time.

This little run produced 2 small browns and two fat bows. Both bows seemed seemed well fed and in decent shape. They're always hit or miss on their fighting ability..

Figured my rig was going to produce well for me allllll day. Not. This is where the ch ch ch changes comes in.

Another thing we all need to probably be better at. Change it up if it stops working! -At least I know I need to be better at that.

Switched both flies on my 2 fly rig and although it didn't work right away it did end up producing another small brown and then this lucky fella who got a photo in the latest edition of #gripnglenn

My great day ended shortly after that when my rod broke...right in half

Already sent an email to St. Croix. Has anyone had experience with them before?

Cheers!

A St Croix rod broke in half for no reason?

They are excellent rods so I am surprised but things can and do happen even to the best of rods

Long story short.. the pieces have been coming apart for some time. I think it put stress on the ends which eventually lead to it breaking today.

So do I. And I assume they will. I mean I’m not expecting a free repair or replacement, but I hope they’ll fix it for a reasonable price.

Quick response from St Croix. If the rod is not under warranty (it is not) then I will be getting a new rod for 85$.

I am good with that!

Thanks. Yeah man, new phone. Button doesn’t work in the water proof bag like my last did so this was without plastic in front of the lense like usual, too.

Really showing off the colors of both the fish and me!
