Default High Elevation Stream Walking

Well I think I'm starting to get pretty good at finding water that might hold brook trout. I'm now 4/4 with about another 7 creeks still on my list to go explore. This was in such a beautiful area which made escaping the heat fairly easy. Started with dries in the morning and started catching small ones here and there. I had a monster brookie take a swipe at my stimi and shoot it straight into the air about a foot at the base of a waterfall. I could see the colors on him clear as day and he would have been a beauty. I started to make my way up to some small water and saw a nice little overhang on the bank where a dead tree was laying down catching a bunch of debris in the water. I tied on a brown little streamer I have a ton of confidence in and bow and arrowed it perfectly into the open hole in the debris. Right when it hit I saw this guy come out and take a swipe, one twitch of the streamer later he smashed it and I brought him to the net. With all this rain we have been getting, it should make the blue line fishing incredible this weekend where I'll be marking off another north GA small stream.

Now that's doing it up the right way! Awesome brookie!

Great report. Fantastic pic, good motivation for folks to go out and do some legwork, and a handful of oft overlooked and generally unknown little brookie streams remain unidentified.

Catching specks in those little gems is a rare treat, one that few people ever take the initiative to try. Congrats and good luck with the others on that list.

Micro bugger= Size 12 or 14 barbless streamer hook, brown ultra chenille, brown saddle hackle, tungsten bead, tan maribou tail, gold mottled flashbou in the tail. I've caught several nice brookies on this pattern.
