Wink Free Cable!!!!

Got out on a local SD pond this afternoon and roasted until the sun went down....then....I was happy to land my first fish ever on my new Orvis Access....ahem....9 wt (ssshhhh).....ok.....so it's not a Bull Red or Huge Striper....but with a dented melon like his, I was able to ditch the dish and now I get all the channels I want for FREE!!!!

I've heard a lot of good things about all the Access rods! Do you have any others?

Trent,
Sorry....no other weights beside 9. The rod has been great to cast so far. I'm coming to the realization that I am not the type of caster who needs a really fast rod. In fact, I have an L.L. Bean Orion III (Bean's "fastest rod ever" a couple of years ago) 8wt. that led me to realize just how much I DON'T need a really fast rod. I have 2 Diamondback Americana rods (5wt. and 7wt.) that are so much more enjoyable for me to cast than the Orion III.

The Access fall into maybe a Medium-Fast action....certainly not Orvis Superfine Full-Flex territory.....but not even close to the Bean Broomstick either....if you ever want to cast it, just let me know....it really is a fun rod to fish with!!!

Trent, I don't have any of the access rods, but have had a chance to to cast several of them (something like a 3wt, 5wt or 6wt, and then a 9wt) (can't remember the exact weights) Atleast for casting they are a very nice rod. They handled well on short 10 or so foot cast all the way up to around 50 feet (ran out of back casting room).

Great looking fish that you have there. Hope that you enjoy the new rod, those rods are really beauties.
