Default Nice start to the New Year at Paces

Spent a few hours Sunday afternoon at Paces. Good start to a new year (see attached picture).

The first hour was a bit slow but action really picked up. Landed several fish including a 17inch rainbow with the best coloration of any hootch fish I have ever seen (sorry for the pic quality - an old razr phone that got a bit wet while taking the picture).

There was a nice BWO hatch early afternoon. I casted to a few risers with no luck.

I had no action on streamers, Y2K's, or any of a variety of nymphs I tried. I finally found the ticket, using a tan soft hackle with some flash tied in.

Nicely done! That's a beauty, and you ought to be proud.
I was at WW earlier, and had fine luck on olive WBs until ~ 11am. I switched to a double nymph rig and added a few more, but it had slowed down considerably. It sure beat watching TV!

Nice fish...that's a frying pan full for sure

My biggest worry is that when I'm dead my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it. ~Koos Brandt
