Default Embedding?

This has probably been addressed already but here goes. I was trying to embed a vid earlier from youtube using these instruction:
http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/foru...ighlight=video

From what I understand alls you do is paste the URL right into the box. I did this and instead of the video it was a link to the video. I've been able to put a video straight into the post before but I can't remember if I did something different or not.

Sorry for any redundancies,
GU.

Default Embedding?

I think some of the forums allow YouTube embedding and some do not. The Grand Poobah would have to make some adjustments to the V-Bulletin flux capacitor to allow it.

Disclaimer: I don't know diddly about computers so this is all a guess on my part.

Try this.

In YouTube punch the Share icon - looks like a sideways V with dots.

That should open a small window with a short URL.

Copy and paste that URL into your NGTO post.

That method used to work and I think still does.

Thanks for the help George.

I think the confusion is that Youtube has a "embed" option also, and as with the OP, most folks think that means that you should use that option to "embed" a video in their post. Or, they think they need to use one of the little helper buttons above. I usually fall for the second one.

Let's test your method:

Nope, just a link.

Edit: Deleted the "s", works like a charm!

This is what I did the last time I posted a video. I don't remember how I stumbled into this. I wish one of the IT gurus could make a nice button for this.

Note: I left off the initial [ character so that the code would show up.

I've had the same issues posting youtube vids lately as well. In the past, all I did was paste the URL into the body of the post and the video always formatted properly. I am also using the shorter "share" URL that T8MF suggested and still no luck now. Not sure what changed but would be curious to see as well.

Locate the video you want to post. Click share. Copy the link in the box. Paste it in whatever post you want to include it in. Delete the S off of https in the link after you've pasted it. Should work fine. Example:

I am having the same issue guys. I used to post a you tube link and the viewable video would show up (control pane I guess you could call it). Now, all I get is the url link too. Something definitely has changed.
