Default Field and Fly FV Report 1/7/17

Had a Client out for his 30th Birthday trip the morning after the "big" Snow. It was beautiful over at Fern Valley and we were the only guys putting tracks in the snow and in the river. No doubt it was cold! We rigged up a 9' 5wt sage vxp for a nymph rod and a 9 #6 Sage one with a streamer. Trout were on lock down. Drifted some nymphs and decided if we didn't keep moving we may freeze in place with the rest of the surroundings. Started moving downstream swinging some streamers and had a few fish move a little, but were slow to close the deal. We were happy being out in the winter wonderland, and it didn't take long to hook up on a quick 16" bow. We kept moving changed to a olive color pattern and managed to land 4-5 fish between the swing and the bluff wall at the lower end. We hiked back up to the top picnic tables had some fluids took a break and fished from there back to the ladder and caught another half dozen! largest fish was around 24". All rainbows on this chilly day. Staying on the move kept us warm and entertained with some great fishing and beautiful scenery! A few pictures Attached!!
