Default How do you break 25 inches??? With a 26 inch Hoss Brown!!!

You know that feeling you get when something is about to happen? Leaves you on edge, tense and somewhat anxious? Well that was my feeling today. I had a pretty intensive conference call for some new Verizon trainings that ran for a good 6.5hrs and I already had my sights set on the river this afternoon to find some browns.
I had spoken with Alex about maybe getting out this weekend but we BOTH were not sure if it was gonna happen. Lo and behold though, Alex's job of running around to get CO's was put on hold waiting for the man. Eventually though it got too late and he got a hall pass to get out of work early.
"I might be getting off early and fishing if you want to come." Alex said. That was all I needed to hear and let him know when I could meet him on the river.
So we get to the park and get set up and in the water. Alex is first on the board with a rainbow. Then he gets another rainbow and after that we reposition the boat.
I was facing 3/4 upstream towards river right and cast basically straight upstream and began a slow retrieve... WHAM!!! My rod immediately doubles over and I yell to Alex that I have a bigger fish on than last Sunday. And he is fighting HARD to stay on the bottom of the river! He did not want to come up but we did get a flash about halfway in that told us this was a good fish!
I kept working him in and had to tire him a bit as he was a vigorous fighter and right as he got by the boat he started doing the 'death roll'. Probably would have snapped the line too if Alex had not swooped in and netted him!
Got him in the boat and weighed and measured him and got the photo below. Taped out at 26in and 7.8lbs on the scale. This is definitely fulfilling some lifelong trout fishing goals!!! Best part... got the release on video! Swam away strong!!!

That is one nice piggy! Awesome all the way around! Nice release, too. I think you did everyone proud.

If you have difficulty understanding the post above, read it out loud and it should make sense. This NGTO member is known for his poor hill-billy upbringing and his affinity for all things from Louisiana (particularly if it relates to LSU). It makes for a poor mix of accents and much difficulty in translation. He was doing well for so long, but now seems to have regressed.
