Default JB: 8/16 was a good one

I decided to leave work early and hit JB to do a little peaceful fishing now that the kiddos are back in school. Got out there around 3 and started throwing a chartreuse streamer. Didn't have much luck the first 30min so I decided to switch it up and threw on a yellow one. First strip after the swing on my third cast I finally got a strike. Missed the first but he was hungry and struck it again. I was on the board. Small stocker but it'll do for now.

Had 3 more rainbows to hand in the next 45min or so and then the bite stopped so I knew I needed to switch it up again. Decided to switch out my leader and fish a dropper. Threw on a size 8 rubber leg stonefly with an indicator up top. About the 5th drift my indicator disappears in an instant. At first I thought it was another little stocker but I quickly found out this was no little rainbow. The fish took off and pulled out line while not caring about the drag (which was set loose). After about a 3min fight I finally get it close enough to see the fish. Finally, another brown and a good one at that (at least for me). Got it into my net and felt such a sigh of relief. Probably my biggest brown on the Hooch at just over 14" (new rod has 12" & 20" marks). Took a few pics and sent him on his way. Didn't realize until I was about to continue to fish that during the fight he bent the hook pretty good.

It sure was nice out there today and looks like I wasn't the only one who had a good afternoon. I believe I saw you(wasn't many anglers out) about mid way between the island and top of the shoals?
