I've got a reservation for Wednesday of next week. How are the water levels? I know there's a decent chance of some rain from the tropical system this weekend. I'm excited to be doing some fishing again. Been tying all summer with no real opportunity to actually fish. Time to lose some flies!

If Nate does his job on Monday then they oughta be pretty good by Wednesday.

Water is down about a foot from "normal" levels (whatever that is), and very clear. You can see the fish...and they can see you. Keep changing your flies if you're not getting bit, and when the bite slows down change them again. We found the fish stacked up in the deeper holes. I think the water level is keeping them from spreading out more.

Default Dukes Report 10-7-17

Met my buddy at the parking lot at 7:30 am and we made the van ride down to the bottom of section 2. Water was still way low, but conditions were perfect with cloudy skies and misting rain. The day started slow with paint shiners and chubbs, but caught fire at mid-morning. I was tight lining and the fish were hanging in deep holes and eating nymphs. I brought 14 rainbows to the net in section 1 and 2. Managed to hook up with a 20 inch plus toad and after a few screaming drag runs he proceeded to rub my fly off on a tree root. Oh well; at least he let me keep the fly.
Also had an up close and personal with a momma bear and two cubs up on section 1. I was fishing down below the road and I looked up and saw a small bear on the road. I did not think much of it, but then looked up in a few moments up to see momma coming down to the creek right where I was with cubs in tow. I started making noise and giving ground. She fortunately chose to redirect her path and crossed the creek about 50 yards upstream of me. The people just up the creek never even saw them. It was a great day of fishing.

Default Fun day at Dukes

I made it out to dukes this past wednesday and had a great day. I finished the day with 22 (9 on section 1 and 13 on section 2). Most were small rainbows although they were absolutely beautiful. I did have several that were picture worthy though. I will try and post a video when I get it edited. Here are a few pics from the day.

Kevin, congrats on a great day at Dukes! Those are some beautiful trout! I will be there on Nov 1. If I catch a 1/3rd as many as you caught I will be happy. What worked for you?
