Default Thanks

Thanks for the information, it just seems like there has been next to no buzz about dh season kicking off this year, so I was concerned that the stocking plans may have changed or been cut back. I guess I'm just getting a little anxious. There is usually a press release or some mention from the state folks but I haven't found any.
Thanks again,
Darryl

Default DH Stocking

Another thread says truck and helicopter stocking has been done in Chattooga. What about the Amicalola DH? Has anyone see stocking at the Ami?

We stocked the Ami on Wednesday. (800) rainbows and brookies at Highway 53 bridge and (900) fish at Steele Bridge. Please keep an eye out for poachers or folks who don't know any better and call the DNR Hotline if you see any miscreants. DNR Hotline = (800)241-4113

I had a decent day at Smith Creek yesterday, catching a few, surprised and pleased that I caught a couple of Brookies, but I really expected to catch more fish at Smith. I left Smith around noon and drove over to Amicalola. After an hour there with no action I decided to call it a day. Can't understand what I was doing wrong, two days after stocking and only catching a few at Smith and none at Amicalola. Not only did I not catch any at Amicalola, I did not get a bite and did not see any in the water.

Default Mystery at the Ami

I also fished the Ami yesterday (11/3), with little success, only 2 rainbows. I tried naturals and junk food, wet flies and dry. I know where the stockers usually hold. Talked to and saw several other trout fishers there. No one was catching. I started at the 53 bridge and fished 10AM-1PM and then moved up to the Steel Bridge and fished for an hour or so. I talked to a guy at the Steel Bridge who said he had caught about 30 on 11/2 in an hour and a half but I saw none and heard of none being caught at the Steel Bridge on 11/3.

Last year the Ami fished well in the first few of weeks of the DH season. So what is happening to the Ami this year? Is the water too warm for fish to be active? It felt cold enough but I did not measure the surface temp. Were fewer fish stocked this year? Will there be a second stocking on the Ami in November?

Lots of mysteries. What do you all think?
