Default Redemption

Unfortunately, something came up and I wasn't going to be able to make it to the drag-free drift seminar in time. I had some time in the afternoon to waste, so I headed out with the intention of teaching myself how to euro nymph

My new nymphing rod came in recently too, so I was itching to get out. After pulling in, I noticed the parking lot was practically empty, so I had a feeling I might do good today. It took some getting used to holding a giant stick (11' rod) compared to my older rod which was only 8'. I was catching nothing for the first 2 hours of fishing, so I decided to do some bushwhacking. Hiked downstream for about a mile, which payed off. I had never caught a single brown out of the hooch, but today that changed. I was catching them left and right. This whole euro-nymphing thing is the real deal.

Also, thanks to Big T for tying me up some euro nymphs. I have no clue what the names of these flies are, but the fish were crushing this one

Good looking fish and good looking fly. I love those barbless jig hooks.
There's nothing like redeeming yourself out on the water. Good job on sticking with it.

Not trying to discredit anything...the browns are lovely. Just the water clarity looks a little too nice to be round these parts.

These were all caught at Settles Bridge. I guess the phone camera didn't do a good job of showing the pea soup
