![]() I pulled into the parking lot yesterday morning and my truck read 11 degrees. I wadered up with 4 layers on my upper body. It was just a little bulky but doable.Rigged my nypming rod with some new experimental flies I had tied.
I eased down to the creek and made a few cast. Things were icing up. A few more cast and I had strike. I set the hook and saw the fish turn sideways. It just came unbuttoned. Trying to figure why I lost that fish I noticed both my flies were solid ice. I'm guessing the ice prohibited the point getting to the fish. Change in plans. Go back to the truck and warm up a while. More importantly let all the ice on my tippet and flies thaw. Let the seat back and took a short nap. Woke up about 9am to a balmy 16 degrees. Hit the water again, greased my tippet thinking it may not ice up as quick. Started fishing parts of the creek where the sun was hitting the water. Had a pretty couple of hours of fishing. Sure needed a camera man today. Fingers and phone didn't want to cooperate. Also ran into several other NGTO members in the parking lot and on the stream (Troutninja, Big Browns and Trout8myfly). Oh and had my license checked by the local game warden. So as the tile says, Are we crazy or dedicated? My wife has her on thoughts. Shes want me to seek some counseling about fishing addiction.

![]() Mazel Tov to you for getting out there! I think a little of both IMO. When I was a younger man, I would fish in just about any condition and put myself in semi-dangerous positions just to get the drift needed to catch "that fish". These days, I am content in reading the exploits of those younger and crazier than I.

![]() I noticed my neighbor had a confused look on his face this morning as I was outside rigging up my rod.
I’ve gotta keep telling my self to enjoy it while it lasts. It’ll be summer in no time standing elbow to elbow with all the “sane” fisherman. |

![]() I haven't been on the water in months (more's the pity). I felt it necessary to post this public service announcement in case someone (Buck) thinks I've grown a pair strong enough to fish in this weather. Much admiration for your fishing dedication. I actually did, once, go fishing when the temperature was 15 degrees. Gatorbyte and B Kar Ma made me do it.

![]() Just a quick note and not trying to start anything but more trying to inform... Taking fish out of the water during freezing temperatures can cause some pretty quick damage to them (mainly gills). You wouldn't think about it but their gills can get a layer of frost in just a few seconds causing damage.
Sorry just had to be that guy. Anyways, beautiful fish! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk |

![]() Great that you got out! Any chance you saw a lost GSP?
!!!! LOST GSP ON SATURDAY 1/6/18 LAST SEEN AT COCHRAN SHOALS!!! Please let me know if you might have seen him, solid liver head, white ticked body. Goes by Pinner, friendly as can be, and is likely scared as hell. https://www.facebook.com/namritak/po...59847766385405 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

![]() Figured it was him. A while back Seth told me that using the handle as an email address helped him get a job in Alaska. The hiring manager liked it. :-)
