Thumbs up

One of the best times of the year. Pig Pickin' and hors d'oeuvres start at 5:00. Foxfire Boys playing bluegrass. Bucket raffles and silent auctions. Sharing time with lots of trout folks. Dillard House buffet. Even cokes out of glass bottles. Jim Casada speaking this year.

Should be fun.

This one's sweet.

PERE MARQUETTE SALMON CABIN!

Make lifetime memories with fishing friends during a one-week (7 day, 6 night) stay at a cabin on the bank of the famous Pere Marquette River near Baldwin, Michigan. Choose between seasonal salmon (Sept, Oct), steelhead (Nov, Mar, Apr), or resident brown trout (May-July) opportunities. The PM’s king salmon average 10-14 pounds and can reach 30! Steelhead average 6-8 pounds and can top 15. Resident browns average 10-14 inches and biguns’ can top 20. For trophy brown hunters, don’t forget that the dark-sixty Hex hatch happens in early July. The flies-only section of the PM is only 15 minutes away, while several other famous Michigan waters are within driving distance.

The two-bedroom, one-bath cabin sleeps a comfortable 4 and a cozy 6 adventurers. There are two twin beds in one bedroom, one queen in another, one queen foldout couch and one full futon in the living room, and a set of bunkbeds on the enclosed porch that has a space heater. The cabin has a full kitchen with electric stove and fridge. The flyfishing guidebook, Trout Streams of Michigan, is also included in this prize package.

Speak with Rabunite Jeff Durniak (706-892-6576) for details and contact information for the cabin owner, Jeff’s college roommate and an honorary Rabunite.

Turn the page to enjoy a trip report from last year’s prize winners. Grab a bunch of fishing buddies and bid high!

Wish I could be there this year. This is the biggest event of the year for Georgia trout fishing. Good food and darn good company!
