I like your fly selection. Good luck.

I'd give it a few days before fishing around Helen, including Smith Creek. This rain we've had the past couple days has the creeks and river a'rollin high.

Smiths is a tailwater in essence so I think it could be done. Not necessarily saying fishing will be better but it can be done with heavy flies or split shot and brighter bigger patterns. The higher and turbid water might help catch rates as they'll be less people out there and they won't spook as easily.

The hooch above Helen was still rockin real' high and fast today. Smith's should be plenty fine by Thursday.

Smith should be good to go. Stained water helps. Think down and dirty.....splitshot are your new best friends.

Sounds like ya'll really want me to catch something

What size split shot do I need? Don't wanna get something too heavy.

I'd say any regular sized split shot would work. If you really want to dial it down get one of those variety packs at walmart. Add enough to tick bottom, but not enough to get hung up every drift.
