Default My New Toy

My new toy! I have been using Gopro's for several years now and feel naked without one. I have really enjoyed them. A few days ago I got this new lil beast. Some features that really made me upgrade are 1080p at 240fps and 2k at 120fps. With high fps you can really get some neat slow mo footage of fish jumps and have it be buttery smooth. Voice activation: I can start and stop the video just by speaking to the gopro and take photos so after I get the fish in, I can tell the go pro to stop recording and then I can hold the fish with two hands and tell it to take a pic.
That will be a game changer in itself. No more need to fumble with holding a fish with one hand and try and get my cell phone or camera with the other hand. The camera is waterproof without the need of a waterproof housing so that will cut down on weight and allow for the use of the mic and voice without it being muffled or having to go with some sort of external mic. Wifi and the capability of uploading the files through your wifi network without having to connect the camera. Can't wait to get some fish footage on this bad boy.

I took it out in the yard real quick just to test it out running 2k 120 fps. I took this photo from the actual video. Look at the detail on the dog, the tree, and even the blades of grass!! Can't wait to get some river footage this weekend.

Jealous of the new toy; those little cameras have come a long way! Not that you asked, but if you're really looking to take your footage to the next level, look into getting a gimbal for the camera. The GoPro Karma is $300 (and is a bit overpriced IMHO) and SkyLabs makes one for $199 (but eBay is your best friend for those devices - you may be able to find a great deal). Gimbals can make a HUGE difference in quality of the video you take.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that I spent $1,000.00 on a “camcorder” that rested on your shoulder while holding it with both hands.

I waited until the prices came down. I spent $750.

It's amazing how far technology has come. I still cant believe the video quality u can get out of a gopro to be as tiny as it is and now to have things like wifi and voice activation added to the mix in such a small device just boggles the mind. I'd like to try a gimbal but most of my video recording is done fly fishing so I need both hands free. Maybe I could mount a gimbal to my head? I already look weird enough with a gopro mounted to my hat and me talking to it. maybe I just need to get my own film crew like bigT

If we’d only bought stock in Apple with that money.
