Default Missed Jones, ended up at Noontootla

I attempted to find Jones Creek today near Nimblewill. Got a little lost and followed a guy who said he was going hiking near a trout stream.

Over the hill and through the woods, long, steep, rough ride finally got to Noontootla Creek where the streams are small - about 2-3 miles down from the mountaintop where the roads converge. 4*4 paid for itself today.

Tried a dry with a dropper 12" below. Nada. Tried a floater. Nada. It was cloudy and later rainy, so I tied on a green wooly bugger, and let it drift and worked it like a streamer. Got two strikes no hook set. Got two almost to net but they shook loose at the last second.

Got a 6" rainbow and later a 6" brown. Small, yes, but the stream was small. Used a four weight but should have used a three given all the brush and snags. Both were revived after the picture and swam speedily away.

That brown looks so tiny. Very cool colors.

I've caught me one wild trout before, but that was an accident. I need to try some wild streams. Must be rewarding.
