I have been trout fishing for over 23 years using mostly spinners, worms, and corn. This type of trout fishing became bland and boring to me. Recently I have been turned onto fly fishing. The sport attracted me due to the increased difficulty and the shear task of imitating life. In the past year I have been reading this board and back posts all the while building my fly arsenal, buying equipment, and working on my technique. Finally, I had a chance to fish the Amicalola on Friday morning and I caught my first trout on a fly. What a rush! I then caught my second, third, fourth, and eventually eighth. I probably missed twenty and got thirty strikes. I by no means think I have mastered the sport (and never will), but you buys sure have made the conversion easier. Thanks and tight lines to all of you.

I bet a bunch of us started the same way, CT. Enjoying fly fishing is a natural mitigation to the extra expense you'll encounter!
