Got back from weekend on Jacks river. Hiked in on pennitentary branch trail friday morning. Hike took about 2 hrs. Camped there until Sunday morning. Weather was perfect. Only rained after sundown on Saturday evening. River was low and water was very clear. Only saw other hikers the whole time. A buddie and I had the whole river to ourselves. Caught and ate several rainbows Friday. All C+R on Saturday. Most rainbows were from 4-8". I did however catch and relase my first Jacks river brown. He was about 9-10" and was well colored. This area is probablly the best fishing destination in the state hands down. I was truly impressed. The season can now end.
