Orvis has a 20 year unconditional warranty on all their rods, which means that no matter how you break it they will replace it. This does not include the clear water series.
You should have been able to take it to a company store and swap it on the spot, but I must say the Orvis store in Buckhead tends to disreguard some of the policies set by the company. I will say that Orvis warranties are the best out there if the dealers follow the policies, but when they don't...I can think of alot of other rod mfg. that build a lot better product. Great warranty or not Orvis has to start thinking about change in the rod area...their line has been out for several years and I hear alot of people talking the product down and I can't blame them. Glad to here you where taken care of in a good manner. I will say it's not often I here something good about Orvis....especially the Buckhead store. Flyguy anti-orvis |

My experience with the Buckhead store has been great. Returned some waders
recently with no questions asked. Only met one sales person there with attitude out of several trips since it opened in '95. I've been buying Orvis gear since '76 and have been very pleased. The new TL rod is getting some good posts on some of the FFing message boards. |

My Orvis 2wt Superfine and Battenkill reel are my two bwst friends. In the 20 years I've been flyfishing I hav'nt owned a more productive rod ( as far as Georgia Trout fishing is concerned).
The Orvis Buckhead store is a different story however. I think the folks there are more concerned with what and who is trendy or not. KB |

The buckhead Orvis store has been great to Georgia Women FlyFishers. They have helped us with trips and clinics.
As far as our members go, two ladies broke rods this past summer with no hassles on the guarantee. The two folks that I have found most helpful there are Carl and Sam. |

The Orvis Store in Buckhead, specifically the fishing department personnel, have been very helpful and I have never see them be rude or ignore a customer. The new Trident TL rods are some of the best rods the industry has available. I and my fishing companions have have some rods damaged in the past two years and in every instance they (Orvis) replaced the rod on the spot (Orvis's suggestion) or sent the rod off to be repaired (my suggestion).

I had a similar experience with my Orvis rod, slipped on a rock and broke the tip top off. Orvis promptly replaced my rod for me no questions ask. There are those out there who are down on Orvis but most cant give you a reason why, Orvis is no more expensive than the other big name rods they were the first with the unconditional warranty (the others have since followed), I have cast rods by the other manufactures (several different styles in fact) and still when I want to do some serious fishing i'll pick up my 7'11" Superfine Orvis everytime. The slow relaxed action of this rod suits my style to a tee. Color me and Orvis fan.
P.S. Flyguy, as good as those burgers were at the fling i'll bet it was an Orvis spatula you were using, and if it wasn't you still did an outstanding job. |

Two quick Orvis Atlanta plugs:
1. Once I was looking at a rod there and the salesman steered me to another manufacturer for that particular size. 2. Another time I was asking how big and what color the sow bugs are in Arkansas, so I could tie some for my first trip out there. Though there was no money in it for Orvis, the salesman called at home another salesman who had recently been out there but was off that day. To me that's good service w/o attitude. |

I have had similar experiences with LL BEAN. For example, I recently damaged my "Angler" reel when I slipped on a rock at the Jacks River. When I sent it back to BEAN for repairs and a note describing how it happened and it was "my fault", then telephoned me and apologized for having to use a damaged product during my fishing trip! Then they repaired my reel and sent me a new one to boot!! At no cost! This is why I have been a loyal customer for 30 years. Also, I have had many positive experiences with the FISH HAWK in Buckhead. (I think it's in Buckhead) They have always been helpful and have taken the time to let me explore all of my options. It has been my experience that they try to help you find the best product for your needs and budget, and not the most expensive or most prestigious. Just my 2 cents.

I broke my new Orvis 4wt last month on a trip out West(in a car trunk!). Took it to Orvis Buckhead soon as I got back. They mailed it back for me and two weeks later I got a NEW rod via FedEx delivered to my house. As to quality, it worked GREAT (trout up to 20"). Here's one positive Orvis customer.
