Asked about a lanyard at BPS today. The guy said they didn't have any just for fishing but suggested that I try the ones they had over in the waterfowl hunting area that were made for duck calls.
They're $3.49. I've never used a lanyard, so I don't know if this is a good one but it looks good enough for me. I just need to modify it a bit and put in a breakaway so I won't hang myself I'll be in business. |

Cool, I'll have to get one. I've been trying to make them but for that price I have to get one. Thanks for the info.

In the discussions on NGTO about lanyards lately, everyone was talking about beads. I don't know what they were talking about--what beads and what is their function on the lanyard?
In any case, this thing doesn't have beads. It just has loops tied into the cord to serve as attachment points for tools--just like on the ones in the Orvis or Cabela's catalogs that sell for $35.00. Those loops look good enough to me, so I'm not worried about beads. It has four attachment points--enough for (1) a fly holder, (2) floatant, (3) nippers and (4) tippet dispensers. You can just clamp your forceps right onto the cord. As I figure it, those are all the basic fishing tools that you have to have, especially since I assume that if you're using a lanyard you're trying to minimize your gear, carry less and be cooler. I really like this thing. |

Greetings LanyardHeads,
At our last Fling, my son (Lil Drifter) put together some "lanyard kits" and sold them for $3. Click here to view Lil Drifter's El Cheapo Lanyard. You can find most of the materials at Michaels. He still has some of the kits if you want one. I can bring them to the next Fling. Drifter |
