I have been reading on this sight that trout can not properly digenst corn and as such trout fisherman should not use this as bait. Is this true, and if it it is then why was corn suplied by NGTO to the kids at the fishing event held at Azalia Park. (Thanks to all involved in hosting this event my son had a great time.)

Jordan,

The following quote is from Bill Couch - Super of Buford Dam Hatchery, Fisheries Biologist, Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources:

"To my knowledge (I use the phrase loosely), there is no evidence trout are killed by injesting corn. I have fed corn to fish, and failed to kill them. I was pretty rough with the fish and force fed them until their stomachs could hold no more (up to 30 pieces per feeding and 6 feedings over a two week period).
Bill"

Welcome to NGTO. Hope you and your son caught some fish.

No Owl, instead we broke off a couple of limbs from the surrounding trees and tied on some twine. The corn kept coming off though! .

We even resorted to a cheeso tactic that I hope you won't critize us for. We even chummed the water close in to the bank with corn to try and draw some fish in for the kids. Net result-every goose and duck on the river had a feast.

Maybe we need to hold a Kids Fishing/Hunting Day in October with Ducks Unlimited. That way if the trout won't cooperate, maybe the ducks and geese will.

Kinda like killing two birds with one can of nibletts.
