Anyone had experiences...good or bad?
I'm considering placing an order but am a little hesitant after what happened on my first order: Their website advertised the Patagonia waders (clearance on discontinued 2000 model)for a good price so I gave them a call. Said they only had Large Long left. That's my size so I placed an order. Got an email the next day stating they had the SST+ model (more expensive they say) instead of the standard SST model and I can have them for the same price. The difference is SST+ has neopreme feet versus gore tex feet. I said "send them on." The waders arrived and I found the carrying bag labeled "Large Long" however the waders were labeled "Extra Large". I decided to keep them anyway since I'd be wearing heavy clothes beneath them. The instuctions stated the waders come with a "quick repair kit". Guess what? No repair kit. Sent them an email two weeks ago and have not had a response. They were corresponding with me frequently until I asked about the repair kit. Now they don't answer. Hmmmmmm. Drifter |

I've had good experiences with them.
In case you didn't get this : "Worldwaters.com would like to thank you for your support this year by offering you $50 off your next purchase of $250 or more (or $30 off $150 or more or $10 off of $50 or more). This email is going to all of this year's customers as a way of saying thanks and Happy Holidays. Hopefully this takes a little sting out of your holiday spending, and increases the odds that you end up with what you want this holiday season. Use the following coupon code when you check out to receive your discount: wwxmas2000. " |

Steve:
My experience with them has been good in the past. You might want to revert from e-mail and call customer service toll free at 1-800-882-4223. I've had some good communication with Dave Hamasaki, the manager of their Sausalito retail store, in the past and he is a possible help contact. Dave is familiar with NGTO and he was my original contact back when we had them as an advertiser. E-mail daveh@worldwaters.com. If all else fails, e-mail the Pres. and CEO, Tyson Pardue at tysonp@worldwaters.com |

Thx Michael and Jack.
I'll try calling Dave and see if that works. If it does, I'll order using the discount code. Happy Holidays. |

Patagonia reportedly supports and donates to the "deep ecology" groups( ie no human activity in the wilds,etc.).....just FYI.

Jeff,
Patagonia has donated approximately 15 million dollars to environmental groups since the company started their grants program. Most of the organizations that receive grants are lesser known groups (like NGTO??) that seldom receive the big corporate dollars. The Atlanta Store recently donated money ($2000) to the Chattooga River Watershed Coalition to help preserve and maintain the Chattooga River watershed. I agree some of these groups may be a little radical in there leanings, but I can't believe a manufacturer of backpacking, hiking, mountaineering, flyfishing, whitewater, gear etc..would support groups that strive to limit or infringe on these outdoor activities. They would be "shooting themselves in the foot" so to speak. For a partial list of groups receiving Patagonia grants dealing with marine environments go to: http://www.patagonia.com/webapp/comm...rants_watr.jsp Happy Holidays, Drifter |

Apparently they do support "good" environmental movements also, but Tom was kind enough to point out this extremist movement, backed by Patagonia, that seeks no
intrusion by man into vast areas of North America. http://www.wildlandsproject.org/ Their support of both this group, and the chatooga watershed group is schizophrenic. |

Looks like Ted donated about $30,000 or so to The Wildland Project. Their website lists Patagonia, Lynhurst Foundation, and Alton Jones Foundation as donors also. But when I go to their respective web pages, there is no mention of The Wildlands Project. Only Ted seems to be listing WP as a grantee. Prolly prodded into donating by Hanoi Jane.
