I've got a 15.5 ft. Coleman Canoe, @3ft wide.
Also have a Motorguard 36lb. trust trolling motor.
My question is would this have enough power to travel upstream on the Hooch? Is a motor/canoe idea foolish on the Hooch?
Just trying to figure out a way to avoid the two car thing.

SRD - a 36 lbs'er will most likely work fine with a hot, fresh charge.

If all else fails, buy the longest kayak paddle you can find, and you'll nearly be able to tow skiers!

Dace,

The 'lectric motor will work fine. Just make sure you always head upriver to fish

I have an Old Town Discovery with a square stern. I put a 2.5 hp Mercury on the back and can go just about anywhere on the Hooch.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (like that wouldn't happen ), but keep in mind that once you put a motor on your canoe, I believe it needs to be registered.

Cool

pschlemm,
You are correct about haveing to register your boat once you have a motor.
But, i have used my canoe with trolling motor countless times and have not done this.
I have talked to some rangers here and there while in my canoe and they have never asked me for any type of registration.
I may just be lucky , but i think that they really don't care about trolling motors unless your doing somethin illegal already. my.02

Thanks for the feedback!
Speaking of boat registration;
Actually have a sticker for it, but can't figure out what side to put it on.
I point the boat one way with a passenger, but the other way without a passenger.
From what I understand, your supposed to put the reg. sticker on the bow.
