I am renting a cabin on the Chestatee River in June. My wifes choice. I understand there is a spring run of stripers, will it be over by June 20, and what is the rest of the fishing like? Are there any trout there? Is the river wadeable, or do I need a boat or canoe? The cabin is right on the river. Do I need to bring a can of (I hate to say it) w.o.r.m.s????? Any assistance is appreciated.

it really depends on where you are on the river as far as the trout are concerned. Once you go below turners corner (intersection of hwy 19 and hwy 129) I am not sure how many trout are in there. I think that section ofthe river becomes marginal. The striper cut off is quite a bit farther downstream as there are some rapids that cut them off somewhat. It really depends on water level. I know that area real well. Email me if you like and tell me where the cabin is and i can most likely give you a more definitive answer as to what is there where you are going to be.
