I'm in the market for a fast 7 wt rod. Does anyone own or has anyone cast the new Sage XP rods? Thanks - Bob

Sageboy,

I have the Sage 9' 6wt 4 piece and love it. It is a very fast rod but I found that I could cast 20 feet as well as 60 feet. Besides all this it is also a very good looking rod. Try one out and see.

I've got a 9' 6WT 4pc RPL+. If the XP is faster than the RPL+, I prob don't want one. They sure are a purty green tho- stead of that always & forever Sage brown.

I have test cast them and they are sweet rods. Very fast, but with a responsive tip for short work. I have considered taking the plunge on one of these for short-range saltwater fishing (mangroves and docks).

As always, they are overpriced and cheaper substitutes abound....

Thumbs up

I have a 9' 4 wt. Love it. It's fast and a great long caster but is still vert good on short casts too. I recommend it!

Cool

OK guys, I bit the bullet today & bought a new 6 wt, 4pc XP. Sarge let me cast it in the parking lot at the Fish Hawk & I fell in love. I hate to sound like a commercial, but this thing almost casts itself. I've got an old 5 wt RPL & this thing feels like I can put a long cast out there with alot less effort (just the ticket for the Cumberland River next month).

Anyway, thanks for all the feedback from you folks. You guys make this board is an incredible resource. Now if someone would just speak to God for me & get this thunderstorm to stop, so I can go practice in the back yard.
