I was VERY suprised, and excited to hook into a (solid) 12" brownie last night just below cochrane shoals. He was feeding very aggressivley, looked healthy and fought hard. I landed him quickly and he swam off confidently.... He rose to a size 16 Irresistable.

I was wondering if the stockings have begun. Also, if anyone has taken a temp reading within the last couple of days.

Dang, I am getting excited.

Cool...I guess some of the browns are surviving the heat...I don't believe they would have stocked yet. Did your fish look like a stocker?, or has it been in the river for awhile. Yea, it's cool-the DH is almost here and we can plan on some of those big guys!

He certainly didn't look like a stocker... his right fin was full.. left had been rubbed and healed.. it was a very short "full" fin.. (if that makes sense)
Almost like he was stocked at the end of last season.

Maybe he just came down from above.???

The water feels much much cooler from only a month ago, but there seems to be very very little action at dusk. I have spent the last two evenings down there, and havn't seen anything to write about.
OH,except
Last night there was a hatch of mayflies coming off the water. Looked like 16 sulphurs, or Light Cahills???
Its good to see them again too.

Thanks Bpal for the heads up on the irrestible adams. I had never tied anything spun, so I tried it. Yesterday I went to the dam and caught several nice browns, they were hammering it. I had the river to myself in area 100 - 200 yards above the island in the afternoon. It was really really good dry fly action.
