I have a question. I have always avoided Cochran early in the DH season for two reasons: 1) I thought most of the trout dies in the warm Summer months; and 2) I thought all the stocking was done at Whitewater and Paces Mill....

My question: If the fishing is good at Cochran, where are the fish coming from -- are they holdovers, do the stockers migrate that far; or is the stocking done at places other than the ones I mentioned above?

Seaform,

Did not know they stocked up there at Cochran. When ever they have a request for volunteers, it always mentions 41 or Whitewater.

It makes sense that they stock that area given that it is DH water. thx kc

Kc

Because of the easy access I do not believe they need help stocking CS. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. As far as days they stock there verses WW Or Paces I am not sure. I believe some days probably are the same, or at least the same week. Last year, if my memory is correct, it was the same day, at least early in the season. Either the hatchery or sweet water brewery put some really nice fish in there last year.

I don't think it's about easy accessibility at Cochran Shoals. I've done stocking at Pallisades and at Hwy 41 and they literally drive the stocking truck in to the water there.
