Default H&H; Excellent customer service and prices

A lot of you on do business with Hook and Hackle. I liked to say that I am glad to be one of them. An excellent source for rod building and fly tying supplies. I had an order that I needed to place yesterday and I had some questions about one of the items. Bob Ellsworth cordially returned my emails in a very timely fashion (almost like instant messenging in one case) yesterday. I placed the order after midnight. I made a mistake on my billing address for my card, I emailed to let him know and I got an email first thing this morning from Bob letting me know he taken care of it. In this world of everything automated it is good to know you can still deal with a real person now and then.

Thumbs up Hook and Hackle

I just finished one of H&H's rod kits.Cost of the kit with rod case etc. and shipping was $74.75. For the heck of it I totaled up the cost of the kit if bought separately, total $183.03. One gigantic savings. The cost of the kit without the discounts (which totaled 40%) was $118.00. I seem to remember that somewhere I read that a rod built from a kit was equal in price from 2 to 3 times the cost of the kit and or components. Great savings. This is about my 4th experience with H&H and I can say that I haven't had any problems whatsoever. On my first order I called and asked about their personal check policies, the lady I talked to said no problem , took my order over the phone and sent the order out before they recieved my check. This also included their 20% internet discount plus their sale discount. They will continue to get my business in the future. BTW I have no connection to them other than being a satisfied customer.

Thumbs up

Bob/H&H has always been the best--and for over 25 years. Timely, friendly communication and a willingness to go the extra mile have built the reputation. I ordered components one time and forgot to get the hook-keeper. Emailed Bob---hook-keeper mailed to me immediately--no charge. When you email or call for Bob--you get Bob, not a robot.

Default What I Like About Rod Building Is

the wonderful people and companies involved in this hobby/art/obsession.

Bob (H&H) has been incredibly nice about replying to email and filling orders. Relatively small orders, I might add.

David Edens, Blue Ridge Rods, has provided demos, info, guidance, products and service, plus encouragement. What more could you ask?

Anglers Workshop, a larger catalog house, solved a problem with a defective part as fast as if they were at my kitchen table.

And all those folks who build, be they pros or dabblers, are quick to answer questions, provide tips and inspiration, and generally share what they have or know. Pretty cool group.

Default I will plug for Unicoi Outfitters

When I first started this addiction 4 years ago I went up to fish Smith's and stopped by Unicoi in Helen. They told me what to use and I basically cane pole fished but caught enough to be hooked. Went back next time and stopped in to ask if any of the guys could give me a 5 minute casting lesson. To make a long story short, the guy spent about 15 or 20 minutes on their lawn helping me with my piece of junk fly rod. I have heard similar stories from others here and I will do business with them whenever I can.

Default Hooked on Cane pole Fishin'

Now Robert, you wouldn't go out and intentionally get someone hooked on grass would you? The slender reed, blonde and lovely, she is a delight to hold, a pleasure to cast, and a joy with a native tied to her.

Bonedog, be careful, its a trap! As Tentwing says, she will become your mistress.
