I finally saw a Hummer H2 covered in genuine, regulation issue Georgia-type dust. On 316 headed towards Athens around 16:00. Fulton tag, no less.
Every other H2 I've seen has been so spotless you could shave in the reflection off the differential. H1's get dirty fast. I've seen more mud on the roof of an H1 than would fit in the bed of my half ton Ram. |

I've never been a big Hummer fan (too big for my taste), but I'd really like one of those new Hummer 3's.
One thing I can say for those folks is they know how to produce a memorable TV ad. The new Goldilocks commercial for the H3 is great.

If the gasoline prices trend doesn't change in the future. You'll be able to get your choice of Hummers for a dime a dozen. JMHO

I see h2's all the time but have only seen one with dirt/mud on it. I have seen a couple of the H3's on the road, none with dirt/mud.
I saw an original hummer on the highway once in NC, it had a calvin sticker on the back window that was him taking a leak on the H2 logo. That was funny. Of couse, this was before the H3's were out on the market. I like the looks of the original, don't care for the H2 nor the H3. So many other alternatives that look better. I'm not a big SUV fan, but some of the dodge and Jeep concepts look cool... yeah! The willy's! - DM

I quick look at the differential on the Hummer2 compared to a real Hummer tells it all. It ain't no Hummer no matter how boxy they make it look. You might as well have any number of run-of-the-mill SUV's.
You can drive a Yugo under the center of a real Hummer, the 2 has little comparative ground clearance. |

One of my good friends has a Hummer H2 and I guaruntee you his has been muddy since the day his parents bought it for him.
Regardless of what we country boys like to do, I have hardly ever seen one dirty-- usually spotless. A lot of people from the Atlanta area purchase them more for marketing purposes, rather than utilization of their offroad capabilities. Those Hummer H3's are good looking vehicles, but nothing beats the orginal HUMMER.

I wonder if I can get those parents to replace my old 95 toyoter truck with 200K miles. It don't even have to be a hummer! Heck, I gave my older boy my old 1976 chevy pick-up when he graduated in 1996. Oh well, times have changed I guess.... Hey, it might be interesting to find-out "what was the first vehicle you could ever call YOURS", it could be a gift from your parents or the first one you bought by your lonesome. I'll go first: Mine was a 1956 Chevy that I bought in 1969 for $350 when I headed for college. (It had a "smashed rear end" but ran for ever!) I still wish I hadn't sold that thing to an ex-girlfriend who wrecked it within 2 weeks.wolf |
