Since the Blue Angels were formed, 23 pilots have died in accidents while training, or in Air Shows. To me that seems a mighty big loss of some of the most highly trained and best pilots in the military, and also not to mention personal loss. For something that is no more than an entertainment and recruiting tool; to me it hardly seems worth it. What do you think?

I didnt realize the number was 23... although they have been doing the airshows for decades, that's sure is a high number... i was thinking more like 3 or 4... however, that's a decision for the US Navy... it's my understanding that it's on a volunteer basis only... no one is forcing them.

The Blue Angles are in a word: Awesome! Have you seen them? It is a totally incredible display of American technology, nerve, and capabilities. It made me think that I know why many in the world hate America, they are just flat out jealeous. Too bad for them.
It is definately "worth it". FM |

I remember as a kid hanging Blue Angel posters in my room and trading things bought at the show with my school buddies. I lived about 5 miles from Dobbins Airfield as a kid and remember watching them practice from my backyard on Friday afternoons before the Saturday shows.
FM is correct about the jealousy of our enemies! Technology and guts make for a pretty good show. Would be nice if kids today would idolize fighter pilots and Men of the RED, WHITE, and BLUE! Thanks FM, you just about got me fired up WOTK |

Thanks bigga... we're probably going saturday... i had just googled and found that link, then saw you had already posted it... looks like we're gonna have to pay $14 each
... guess that's because it's not at a military base... oh well.. we're going anyway... the website says flying starts at 12:00, but still cant find the exact time of the Blue Angels show. |
