If I find an old bamboo rod in an antique store, is it worth having it re-wrapped?

What's this 'if' stuff? Sounds like you have one!
I have a cane 'clunker' that I had totally reworked by a very good builder in Traverse City (thank goodness bartering is not illegal!) It don't cast worth a hill of beans but it looks REAL nice sitting here in my 'do room with a Hardy knock-off reel and old silk line on it'! |

Ditto what Jackster said
Also, most "collectible" boo rods have been snatched up and are property of those who can afford them. There are some good "fishable" rods yet to be had. These would be some of the Montagues, South Bends, Heddons, and some of the other mass produced rods. Stay away from the Japan stuff unless you're looking for decorations. If you run across one in an antique store, check the rod right above the grip and see if it has a manufacturer name or sticker and model. This would be the first place to start in seeing if you've found something worth refinishing or a wallhanger.
