to watch Saddam hang? This question was posed on Boortz's website this morning and I thought it raised an interesting socialogical question. Would you cough up 50 bucks to watch one of the worlds most infamous sheet-heads dangle? I prolly would not.

I don't know if I would, but I would like to see it. Watching justice in action is appealing to me.
I did have a good idea for funding the rebuilding of the WTC.... Capture Osama, then have him vs. me in the steel cage on PPV!! We're about the same size, and you can't tell me you wouldn't pay to see that. I would have a signature move, too -- The Nut-Kick!! |

Why pay $50 when within hours of it happening it will be all over the net if you so choose to watch it.

I wouldn't pay 2 cents to watch. When we have so much violence on TV, both news and programming, and movies, and videos and recordings, why would I?
Now we have kicks to the groin, head stomping and other little acts commited by neandethals on the athletic fields and courts. And we have a commission meeting and studying why we have violence in our schools....are they kidding!![]()

I'm not picking on you, FB, but I'd pay $50 for people to stop using phrases like "sheet heads". No matter how much an individual person is disliked, it is rather dehumanizing to an entire group.

Yikes!! I regret that I offended you NP, but I will stand by my description of Saddam and his ilk. I'm not ashmed to state that I have the utmost disdain for muslim jihadists, and would use stronger language were this not a family forum.

Chuckwagon, I know you're trying to keep the thread from becoming a big debate. It's just that for some things, I can't sit idly by. The term "sheet head" is a derogative term for anyone of Muslim faith, and sometimes even middle-eastern heritage. As far as a real name, there are real names for head scarves, which are different depending on which type the person is wearing (I'm not an official on the different types of head scarves, but this much I know). Lastly, I refuse to leave my feelings at home on this type of subject. Politics, yes, but not when it comes to clumping entire groups of people under a negative stereotype. I will voice my displeasure again and again. We have far too much cruelty in this world to be disrespectful to ordinary folks who are just trying to live their lives, whether they are next door or half a world away. |
