Default Roll Up The Hoses

Level 4 Drought situation declared for N. Georgia (most of the areas above the Fall Line).

This pretty much means an outdoor watering ban.

Some info has been on the news. DNR and/or EPD websites have info up: http://www.gaepd.org/Documents/outdoorwater.html

There has been an EPD press release

Thanks Ted... this shouldve been done earlier... imo... it's ridiculous to water lawns when we need that water for drinking and other more important uses... this drought likely will not go away like the ones in 1986 and 2000.

Most streams are near or below historic records.

As much as I hate to say it, the only thing that would really help us short term would be the remnants of a tropical system.... a good 2-3 days of soaking rain.

Otherwise, it's gonna get alot worse before it gets better

Default weather cycles are crazy

it used to be that all of the hurricanes that we had had their crosshairs on Florida and the eastern gulf in some way(and would swing north and we would get rain) . now the few we've had the past couple of years are either going into central america or whiz away into the atlantic. got to love the crazy cycles

haha wow the irony. Kinda just for kicks and weird info-- I read some theoretical article that claimed if our temps keep rising like they are, that the southeastern united states is going is going to have a huge drought, then huge wildfires would burn almost all of the forests...and we would have a new barren...chapparal like landscape, and the heat and drought would keep our forests from growing back to their original size and density. the soils would also begin to erode, like what happened at providence canyon, and we would begin to have a landscape and climate reminiscent of southwest texas. many of our creeks would become washes. we could go wet a line in dukes wash if you please.

ellijay has had 14" of rain the entire year. the 30 year average is over 50" annually. Just for proportions on really how bad it is. This breaks all known records from what I have read.

EVERYONE
Conserve water--SHOWER WITH A FRIEND

But in all seriousness, the following rule will really reduce water usage:
If it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down.

You would think that we could put pipelines in place between reservoirs like we have for our oil transportation that would have the potential to move water around the country.

Just think if we could have been re-distributing all that rain that hit Texas over the summer. We could have kept it from going to waste. I wonder if that's too far fetched?

Cool Time to buy a car wash

I fully expect to see my next round of junk "great new stock" emails to be of the car wash variety.

Profits should definitely be up. Unless my bug splattered car becomes politically and socially correct.
