Ive been thinking about buying a pontoon and I am thinking that it would get uncomfortable to sit and cast/land fish while sitting, Im dead set on having standing platform on one. I also noticed that most that have a platform are not the mot affordable for a trout bum.

I would like some opinions/comments/advise on the comfortability,stability and affordability issues

You are correct it's not alot of fun trying to fish out of a toon while sitting in the chair, but it's far better than doing the same out of a tube when your not touching bottom. The standing platform is def the way to go.. I wish I had one

I've seen where people have made their own platform, but it's almost always on a 9ft or bigger toon.

First you have to look at where your going to be fishing most. Toons are a great way to get from shoal to shoal. From there I like to get out and wade anyways. The casting platform comes in handy when your fishing the slow water between these shoals. IMO, buy a used one and play around with it.. If your going to be buying anything new and paying the big bucks, get the Scadden and be done with it

Oh, as far as the seat goes, it's only uncomfortable to cast while sitting.. Sitting, rowing and landing fish are not a problem and it's actually a great way to spend the day, my seat is not even padded..

Appreciate that, Im going to try and find a used one. I wish I could fork out for a scadden but Im at the top of the broke list

I have my nephew working on welding up something for me to stand on.. Everything was great till he hung the hangers on the outside instead of the inside, now it's too wide

But he'll fix it...

The Scadden - Madison River is the smaller version of mine and has the standing platform. It's around 800 compared to 1000 for the skykomish.
I have gotten every single penny back in enjoyment of my toon!!!!
The scadden boats are built tuff and are nice but they are a little heavier than the non-standing ones.

Toons are VERY COMFORTABLE to fish from, Like fishing from a lazy boy

It take some getting used to casting while sitting, but its not a big deal and in a few hours you will have it mastered.

Anyone have a creek company pontoon? The 816 and the super sport 9 are on sale right now at cabelas, anyone know how they hold up? I'm more interested in the heavier 9 foot toon because it is more stable and I don't plan on carrying it very far.

I love my Scadden Skykomish, but there's some good 'toons out there for a lot less money that will do the job.

BassPro's Paddlefish for $300 isn't a bad unit, it's made by Outcast. I've got one of them as my loaner when I want to take a buddy fishing.

As to casting while sitting down, it's not that big a deal.

I have an outcast fishcat IR9 it doesn't have a casting platform but I like to put the anchor down and stand up on the seat to cast. Its pretty stable and easy to get up and down and land a fish.
