The Dark Watchet is another classic north country spider pattern and is fly #8 in T. E. Pritt's list of North Country Spider's (dated 1886), in which he describes this fly as "one of the daintiest morsels with which you can tempt a trout, and one of the most difficult to imitate satisfactorily".
I have to admit that this is one spider pattern I had not heard of until Gatorbyte mentioned it in one of his posts a day or two ago. Having just come into ownership of a Jackdaw scalp, I looked this little feller up and had to give it a go. Here is the recipe and picture: Hook - Daichii 1550 size 16 WINGS – Hackled with a feather from a Jackdaw's neck BODY – Orange and purple gossamer silk, with the purple thread dubbed with a very slight amount of moleskin. ![]()

Well, I think you really managed a beautiful tie. I can't wait to see how they fish.

Really nice looking tie Buck!
I love the colors on that fly. As GB said can't wait to hear how it fishes. I told GB I'm now itching to place another order with Jim for some jackdaw scalp and several other colors of silk.....and I haven't even hooked up with GB to get what we just ordered.
