With duck season coming up, I'm extremely excited. I love getting out on the water before light and hearing the ducks whiz by overhead like little fighter jets. To me duck hunting (and turkey hunting) is a lot more like trout fishing. You have to decoy and call, which takes a considerable amount of skill. This is especially true in the south where the ducks have been called at, shot at, and seen every decoy rig possible from Canada all the way here. Also, the lack of rain affects the ducks much like trout. My swamp has been reduced to a 4 foot wide creek snaking through what should be a good 8 acres of water. Instead its been turned into bedding grounds for a lot of deer. Anyways, I'm going to be hunting the oostanaula (sp?) river and Armuchee creek. Seen some woodies on the creek. We don't even have any ducks visiting our lake. I heard there's was a huge snow storm somewhere north, and supposed to be a big cold front moving through. I'm crossing my fingers... Good luck to everyone getting out on the water this weekend with a thunder stick instead of the usual troutin' stick. Anyone seen much waterfowl movement while out on the water (not the usual tame ducks and geese on the Hooch)?

I'd be there if we had water but sadly this will be the second season in a row that I won't be duck hunting the Sat morning after Thanksgiving. I'll get some hunting in at other places over the season but the ole opening day woodie hole is disappointingly dry again this year.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
