Thumbs up Rx Fire at Sprewell Bluff Natural Area - Video

Speaking of State Parks, a former co-worker posted a link to this video on another site. It is an interesting, 5-min video showing some controlled burns at Sprewell Bluff SP and some of the reasons why it is done. You can see some of my former co-workers in action too.

Nothing is impossible the impossible just takes a little longer. So take your time and enjoy the experience.

Default Part Science, Part Art

I watched our 500 acre hunt lease get a controlled burn. It was incredible; tiny little flames licking along the ground when you were up close, a low wall of orange flowing downhill and uphill at night when we were on the road, big flames when the occassional dead pine caught fire (especially at night.)

We found turkey feeding on still-smoldering ground.

Killed all the sweetgun saplings - YEAH!
Killed all the persimmon saplings - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
