one good, one explored found bitc* creek
Jimmy,
Well, it was dying off pretty well when we put in at 9:15. I played guide to Nathan for a good half hour. When I got him into a good cast, mend and drift, on a 16 Cahill, he got a great turn from a very nice fish but too much slack to get the hook up. Just before that I hooked up with a hatchery fish on the same fly. Went slow, picked up just long enough to go dry again, and in a minute it was off. I switched to a streamer and got a hook up. Moved to a big ugly beetle and another good swift hit and short on - but not to hand. Every time I looked over my shoulder, Nathan had once again played explorer and found B - creek. Poor guy. Noontootla was quite off color and too much work for the novice. Did teach him roll cast, but felt we need bigger water. Moved to the intertube put in on the upper Toccoa, since it was 4 p.m. (remember the water release schedule that day.) Nathan stayed on dry, but again very deep tea color. I moved to size 12 hairs ear with big brassy head. Bump, bump, bump and then a great hook up with a nice native - very bright - very pretty rainbow. A great day for me, and for Nathan a very typical first outing. The green scud bug didn't bring any hits - but that's just this time. Sure appreciated talking with you, and we'll see you again.
