Default New fly fisherman born...

My friend Frank fished with Alex from Unicoi Outfitters on Friday at Nacoochee. Frank had never touched a fly rod and really isn't much of a fisherman...more of a beer drinker and "Octoberfestophile". Alex taught him to cast as I stood by trying to bite my tongue, tossing in a word of support now and then. I am not a good teacher; that according to my wife, Anita. After the casting lesson, Frank did surprisingly well. Alex did insist that he remove the bright orange Gators cap (Alex said it was too bright, but I did notice the Dawg sticker on his pickup), so Frank borrowed mine.

As he was fighting this fish, he said, "I can see why you love doing this, Fred...this is awesome"

Chalk up another Florida cracker as an official trout nut.

Very nice. Congrats on showing your friend the light. Did you head right back to Unicoi and buy him a new setup?

I'll be heading up that way on Friday for the weekend and will be stopping in the Unicoi. I've heard nothing but good things about that shop and I am looking forward to meeting the folks there.

So if I wear my camo Gator hat I should be fine, right? LOL

What's Gator Camo look like? Denim and Neon? No seriously looks like a great time and I hope your buddy knows how bad the bug is going to bite him now.
