Cool chattooga

Hey just signed in on your group.Best i can tell you'll are having "way to much fun".Have a place in North Georgia Rabun county.Haven't been fly fishing in 40years but i figure i can fall down in the river as good as any and probably better than most . am close to Chattooga and interested in the dh since i would like to catch some but care nothing about taking anything out of the river except myself if possible.
Am going up 4/8/2010.oh yes i am the one bringing the rain from South Alabama.sorry.I started looking at flies and understand a few basics but i guess i didn't realize how many there could be. Anyone out there who would be willing to help? thanks williebear

Default Welcome Aboard!

We're glad to have you, and glad to hear you plan to fall down in one of our finest trout streams! Most of us fall at some point; the trick is to do it only when the weather is pleasant.

Check these two reports from the Chattooga - there are tips, suggestions and plain ol' pointers in both:
http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78893
http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78999

Plus a map: http://www.georgia-outdoors.com/imag..._chattooga.jpg

And real-time water conditions (you'll want 2 feet or lower for safety!):

Maybe a Rabunite will share some info via private mail.

And let us know how you do.

Hey williebear - good to have another Rabun County angler around! We have a great bunch of local men and women who fish - and fall down a lot! - that would very much like for you to join them.

Why not come to our next Trout Unlimited meeting? There you can meet up with some other Rabunites and get tips on where to go, who to go with, etc. We will meet on Tuesday, April 20, at 6:30 pm at the ReMax office (next to Mama G's). The guest speaker will be Kyle Burrell, a local river guide.

Ask for Pat when you come - that's me. Hope to see you there.
