Default IF yesterday afternoon

Met new NGTOer GeorgePBurdell aka Nick yesterday afternoon at the Ford and we didn't do too bad. It was a pleasure meeting you yesterday Nick and I enjoyed fishing with you. Hope to do it again soon. Most fish were coming off a light beadhead soft hackle (thanks again RScott). Had probably more bites than catches but the day was active for a change. Had most hits on the dangle and not the drift.

Default Hey

2FG

I am compelled to remind you that you are barely out of "stocker" status and still on probation and under full non-disclosure agreement to protect the secret spots / flies.

Got to get a camera to take pictures or nobody will believe the size of the snakes......

I humbly apologize for all past and future misdeeds. When are we going again? I will be out at the Ford later today. How's the granddaughter?

I was there too. Got there about 11:00, stayed until 2:30ish.
I decided to try the back side of the island because I hadn't seen it before. It took a while to find my way across.
The first hour and a half or more, skunk. Started with a hopper /dropper using an olive scud. Switched to a stonefly nymph/Hares Ear combo. Went to a BWO nymph (caught 7 on this the last time there) below a different stonefly. Nothing!
So I decided to go with some flash and movement. When I opened my bugger box, I spotted 3 Barnstormers. This is a Bugger variation I came up with a while back and submitted to the weekly contest in week 11.

I got a nice brown, in the 11" - 12" range right off. (Sorry, no picture. I wasn't prepared and didn't want to hang on to him too long.
After a couple of misses I went back across the island. Picked up this rainbow about the same size as the brown.
(I'm still having a fogging issue with this camera)

Next came this little brown.

Add two more stocker sized rainbows and that was my catch for the day.
I had a bunch of misses, follows and swipes on the Barnstormer too.
It only got 2 votes in the contest, but the trout liked it yesterday.

I like the way that looks as well, and would like to see more ideas along this line. From my experience fishing conventional tackle, the flash of a blade will trigger bites even when the fish aren't actively feeding.
