Default Fishing near the Dam

I have fished the hooch several times. However, i have never fished near the dam. When using the boat have always put in at Abbotts Bridge or Medlock. When wading i go to Jones Bridge or Island Ford. Am i better off with a boat or wading near the dam. Any other suggestions for that area would be great. Thanks.

Not sure what type of boat you have, but I have seen folks below the dam in jon boats, canoes, and yaks.

I prefer to wade, but you should do so with caution and with a wading staff or something similar if you are new to the area, cause anything covered in green algae is very slick in that area. Also recommend felt or rubber with studs.

Agree, wading is a better choice. I saw someone put in a v-hual boat the other day though, but I am not sure if he was able to go anywhere.....

I think it would be a little more difficult to fish the dam area with a boat. Alot of faster water in that area. Not to mention alot more wade fisherman to try and manuver around.
