Default Fern Valley 11/9

First I want to thank Terry for his hospitality and for providing such a wonderful stretch of river for such a reasonable tariff. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Even with the low water, it's a fantastic way to spend a day. I spooked more big fish than I actually cast to but still managed to have an excellent day. I caught many 12-15" footballs nymphing with an attractor above a natural. Best combination was a Y2K above a FBPT. All the bigger fish I caught came on a streamer I don't even know the name of. I picked up 2 of them at BPS and wore them both out. Its tied on a 4x long #8 hook with gold Flashaboo. I refer to it as a Flashfly although it is not the same as the Flashflys tied for Salmon/Steelhead. I absolutely wore myself out landing strong fish on my new 10ft 4wt and will be taking the 5wt next time. A long handled net would definately be a help with the low water. I had a great day and was assured by Terry that when the water is up (pray for rain) it's even better. I'm going to start saving my spare change for a spring trip - can't wait.

Y2K's are an egg pattern and Fern Valley requests that egg pattern not to be used

Default DOUBLE OOPS

First let me appologise to Marty for not remembering his name between my visit and my post. Next, If I'd known about a pattern restriction, I would have certainely honored it. I was not told of any restriction before fishing and in fact Marty spent a good half hour watching me catch fish on that fly and when he asked what I was using he made no mention of any such restriction.

Default Clarification from Fern Valley Girl

At one time, we were restricting egg patterns, but we have relaxed that policy as long as the egg pattern isn't brown. No apology necessary -- especially about remembering that guy's name who lives with Fern Valley Girl. He's been called a lot worse.

and FYI -- we've had a couple of good rains in the past ten days and the river has responded well! Fishing is awesome!

GHackle--it sounds like your Streamer might have been a Rolex. It is an all Flashabou fly and usually Gold.
