Default New Years Eve Float

Joined some good friends for the last day of 2011 for our third annual new years eve float. My buddy put together a short video of the river, fish, and food. Enjoy!

Great job on the shooting and editing. And a beauty fish. I'll bet that float would be a bit different today with the cold weather.

Thanks for the kind words guys, my buddy did a great job and the more he gets into the video/editing side of things the better his work is becoming.

Not much actually, just add another layer of fleece and drink a little less beer and a little more bourbon! We float for steelhead right through the winter and although the catching gets tougher as the water temps near the freezing mark we still have a great time and enjoy the beauty and the solitude.

Ausable or PM or what? I miss that stuff for sure!
That wouldn't be Sean McDonald with you, would it?

It sure is good to see that some things remain the same. Nice shooting and real nice river shots! Thanks!

We were floating the flies only stretch of the PM.....its close and has been fishing really well this year. We hooked 3 steelies (only landed 1) and also a few better browns in the 16-18 inch class. This was actually one of the slowest days this year as we've been landing 1-3 a piece but water temps have gotten cold. Bright sun didnt help us.

Not Sean McDonald but that name actually sounds really familiar?

Wow, very cool video. I gotta tell you Rich, I really admire the passion that you have for your fishing since you moved to Michigan. You have made the best possible use of the great opportunities of youth and location. You are getting to do things outdoors, regularly, that most of us only dream about. Totally freakin' awesome dude, thanks for sharing so much of your exploits with us.

Awesome Rich. You are quite the creative filmmaker I see. I am really beginning to question my decision to head elsewhere last year. This year I made a new years resolution to make better decisions about my fishing destinations. This may be a good way to start that resolution!
