something very interesting happened tonight, in relation to what happened last night...
it seems the ump who made the terrible call at first last night with heyward was behind the plate tonight... early in the game, there was a very close call at home... which he gave to the braves who won 4-3... so i guess he paid us back from yesterday ![]()

Misssed the boat on hanley. Could have worked him this year in place of Simmons and then moved him to 3rd next year to sub for Chipper.
and hey, a win is a win ![]()

Meanwhile Dempster is in the Braves' dumpster and they are beating the Rainbow Fish 6-1 in the 7th behind Hanson and a Fransisco homer, among other events.

I even commented on that at the time. That Marlin was definitely safe. When the baserunner popped up after being called out the ump leaned over toward him and said something quietly. I think it was, "That's was for last night."

Today's game
Hanson walks 7 and has 7 steals and still wins game. Last time a starter allowed those two stats and won was Randy Johnson in 1989. ![]()

Hanson. Yeah........Hanson. Right.
I just don't know about him. Seems like when he retires he'll do so with no better than a .500 record. Maybe.

Considering he's been sub .500 one year, by one game (10-11 3.33 ERA in 2010), that doesn't seem very likely to me. That being said, I understand what you mean. He's gotta cut down on the walks to be the elite pitcher the Braves think he can be.

Today was a lucky fluke. To your point 'bub he gave up seven walks and seven stolen bases. By rights he should have been crushed. I want the guy to do well, but every time I see him pitch he's in first or second-inning trouble (hmmm...so was Glavine quite often).
We shall see.
