Default [Pic Heavy] Fish and Chips, Single-malts, and Ales (and Piggie)

Got back a few weeks ago from a trip where I got to eat "local" early and often without guilt! My wife and I ran our third half marathon in Edinburgh Scotland so we had to do the right thing and carb up before and eat (and drink) for recovery after. Anything else is not civilized.

Just to set the stage and put a face to a hand or whatever else shows up with my food pics - this is the beautiful woman with whom I travel, race, fish, and dine.

We had to have some good Italian food pre-race (proper coursing was necessary)

My wife said this cake got her from mile 10 to the finish

Post race beef rib pie at Deacon Brodie's Tavern

With the first nice cast conditioned ale (of more than one)

On a day trip to St. Andrews we found the best fish-n-chips ever, bar none

After the jumbo fish, a whisky tour

They made beer too (site of the oldest brewery in Scotland)

Different day and another whisky experience at the Scotch Whisky Experience, this is an over 3000 bottle collection of Scotch whiskies

Did a tasting...

...and earned my card

This was the best meal I did NOT get to eat (saw it after we had lunch and never got by again for a meal when they were open)

Typical hardy breakfast..yum

And this was our last meal. At the airport. Really. It was their casual place. I really hate our airport offerings here sometimes.

And a final ale with those salmon and eggs benedict

TH

Looks like y'all had a magnificent time - all except that little 13.1 mile jog .

Great photography of the food in Scotland. That chocolate dessert really looked delicious... I traveled in Scotland many years ago and had very fond memories of the people, scenery food and beverages. Got to get back some day.. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Excellent. Reminds me of our time in Ireland Sept. '10

Gotta love the hearty culture (beer, spirits, and food)
