Will be held Tuesday, July 10 - rain date is July 11. Meet at the entrance to Cherry Hill Campground on SC107 at 8:30 a.m. ready to go.
FS, GA DNR, and SC DNR will lead the project with TU support. We need volunteers to carry equipment in/out and to net fish. Bring waders, a camera, a picnic lunch and full water bottles. It will be quite an experience for those that have not helped with electro-shocking before, including learning where trout lie during the day. Note that the hike in and out of the Big Bend is very strenuous, so volunteers need to be in good physical condition. http://rabuntu.org/site/about/work-p...oga-coalition/ Hope to see you there! OK gang; I am constantly being asked what volunteer opportunities are out there that NGTO members can get involved with to help improve trout fishing in north Georgia. Well, here is a great one with an off the chart "cool factor" to boot. Also, not a bad way to figure out where a few new honey holes are on the Chatooga for those willing to pay the price!

Want to get an idea of what this project would look like? Then visit the Rabun TU web page's Galleries > Work Projects for some sample photos. Sandwiched in between the Back the Brookie photos and the stream cleanup photos are some electrofishing photos the Rabun Chapter has supported in previous years.
http://rabuntu.org/site/gallery/work-projects/ Be sure to note that everyone is wearing waders. You don't want to wet wade with the electrical current in the water! Prez Pat www.rabuntu.org |
